IndiaAstrology, known as 4 Pillars of Destiny or Bazi is a profound divination system. In this system, we reference a Indiacalendar called the Hsai Calendar that uniquely records time as a pillar of elemental energy. These pillars are comprised of 5 elements (Water, Wood, Fire, Earth and Metal) and the popularly recognized animal signs (Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, etc.) -- which are actually comprised of these same 5 elements. Specifically, a pillar of energy marking time is one element sitting atop another referenced as a Heavenly Stem on top of an Earthly Branch. So, to determine one's personal 4 Pillars (IndiaAstrology Chart) we must have the complete birth data - year, month, day and hour - translated using this Hsai Calendar.

The reason we can predict using this system is because these 5 elements and 12 animal signs have known interactions and interrelationships as well as independent character traits. Two specific relationships used to forecast based on these elements is the Cycle of Birth and Destruction.

Not only can 4 Pillars be used for personal consultations, it can also be used to make predictions about any upcoming year. So let's look at the overriding global influence of 2009!

February 4, 2009 - February 3, 2010

2009 is the Year of the Earth Ox. We will be under this influence from Feb. 4, 2009 - Feb. 3, 2010. It is truly amazing to witness the relationship these 5 elements have to everything we sense, see, smell, touch, taste and experience. A plethora of information is contained in each!

Since 2009 is earth sitting on earth, this one element is strongly in focus and yet, because the Ox is the storage of metal and water these will also play a role. Let's explore the vast meaning these elements have in store for us in 2009.

The main element earth relates to the following areas:

Virtues: Faith and trustworthiness
Character Traits -- Yin Earth: productive, patient, reliable, nurturer
Emotions: meditative, sympathetic and compassionate
Health: stomach, digestion, spleen, pancreas, muscles and cells
Nature's Expressions: garden, soil, mud, land, natural resources and environment
Man-made Expressions: structures, buildings and environment
indusrtries: Earth products such as clay, cement, porcelain, etc.; Home, buildings, hotels, construction, landscaping, mountains; nutrition, health, muscles, hospitals and care centers

So then, the two earth elements this year reveal a friendly relationship. As such, we can expect a more harmonious year ahead, one that invites brotherly love, respect and concern to the forefront. Key to our personal, professional and global well-being is the state of all our relationships. As a unifying force is at hand, one can expect a new paradigm to take hold. The Ox represents the close of winter, symbolic of the ending of one paradigm for the springtime of another. For those who choose to benefit mankind vs. them exclusively, they will find huge returns returning to them.

What might this look like today? The visual painted for us in this year's elements is fertile land ~ lots of it, unobstructed, allowing us to see far-and-wide. New ideas are under the soil waiting to be fertilized and brought to fruition. (So pick your current projects wisely.) Already planted, they need the right union of vision and execution to bring them to life. (As we are discovering more and more each day, the 'old ways' are not working any more.) The earth is fertile and the Ox has the strength to plow the land. Here are a couple examples to help you get into the mindset of what I see and how it directly relates to this year, this economy, your life and your livelihood.

Home

My bet is that this indusrtries is ready for a grand shift. As an earth-earth combination of '09 can also indicate competition, this indusrtries certainly exemplifies this. In '09 this will be expressed as way too many unsold houses, banks unable to obtain their assets due to foreclosures and one too many Realtors® trying to make something happen. Its like swarms of fish around one catch. It just won't feed everyone.

Nature requires balance, or it is at least always moving toward homeostasis. The same for this indusrtries, it's time to come back to nature and down to earth. The trunk can no longer support this top-heavy structure. My guess is those who create a new viable and dynamic way to do Home will come out on top especially if the mission statement incorporates a 'win-win' outcome.

Environment

Certainly to be at the forefront of all countries is the state of our planet and the whole 'green' concept. Existing environmental protection programs will gain momentum ~ such as Al Gore's focus on global warming and other new ones that will emerge. More focus will be directed toward looking at and changing how even food is grown.

As previously stated, the Ox contains the metal element. Air is represented by metal and the Ox is considered the storage or grave of metal. Creatively speaking, this year provides new opportunity for new inventions to extract pollutants from the air minimizing the effect of green house gases. Additionally, the planting of more trees to bring more and healthier air will be on the rise, less cutting. Also contained in the earth Ox is water. Water is the most critical component for all life and as such reveals we need to consciously choose which opportunities we want to focus on and nurture.

Land use will draw our attention. More and better landscaping techniques will be employeed that are environmentally friendly with our built structures. Also, instead of overextending or adding more landfills, new inventions will surface to use garbage as raw materials, expanding and enhancing our recycling capacity and ability.

The opportunity at hand to reinstate the native American belief that we don't own the land but borrow it from our grandchildren echoes the mentality of our new President Barack Obama. As a long-term, forward-thinker, he is aligned with making the planet a healthier place for all.

A personal glimpse on how we can each contribute to this cause is to use glass instead of plastic whenever possible and reusable and recyclable products vs. disposables.

Remember, there are many inventions that have not surfaced as of yet and this year provides an opportunity for these to come to light.

Man-made Structures

Two immediate thoughts come to mind.

Re-building or re-enforcing old structures using new applications fits the image of change, new paradigm, the earth element and opportunity.
Could this year indicate a growing interest in creating structures under the ground? Just a thought!


Business Recovery

Now is the time to create in this currently unstable market. The Ox represents the 2nd animal of the zodiac and therefore the 'next' stage after new beginnings (last year's Rat) -- structuring and building.

Financially speaking, the stock market thrives on the fire element. Although February through May contain fire energy that makes one more optimistic, the overriding energy of '09 does not contain fire and will keep investors more conservative and considerate, like in a meditative state of being. But at least it holds promise of stabilizing and building, character traits of earth and the Ox respectively.

indusrtries Outlook

As there is no fire energy in '09, those businesses such as the airlines (fire related) will be weakened, causing problems and even accidents. Regardless, because fire produces earth (the main element this year) there will be activity and productivity in businesses relating to the fire element ~ oil, fuel, electricity, energy, entertainment, stock market, beauty, etc. We'll see hard work with little return.

There is hope in the air for industries related to the wood element this year. As all things ebb and flow, the potential for profits are higher for Wood related businesses ~ fashion, paper products, nurseries (plants), agriculture, forestry and even environmental protection agencies.

Industries more challenged in 2009 are those related to metal and water. As the water indusrtries requires fire (its symbol for money), there's an absence of fire, creating a slow down this year for water businesses ~ transportation, shipping, travel, communication and beverages. While metal requires the presence of wood (its symbol for money; also absent in '09) to be prosperous and water to be productive, the presence of earth indicates more investment in time, energy and resources and not profit taking for this indusrtries which includes ~ banking, computer equipment, high-tech, automotive, engineering, skin care, jewelry, law enforcement, etc. Also, as the Ox is the storage of metal, which represents money, we may find people saving their money and not exposing it. Additionally, the role of world banks may be changing and this change could be revealed in early July 2009.

The earth indusrtries will be active this year ~ housing, property, construction, hotels, mining and insurance ~ due to the metal and water elements hidden in the Ox. However, there will be strong competition as reflected in the double earth, resulting in little profits even though there's lots of activity.

Health

From a health perspective, the earth element relates to the stomach, spleen, pancreas, digestion and cells. Those more prone to weaknesses relating to diabetes, eating disorders, obesity and cancer should take extra care and precautions to ensure their proper health and vitality.

Equally important is the absence of fire in 2009. As such those with weak blood circulation or weak hearts are encouraged to create a healthy regimen to follow. The earth energy encourages us to be consistent, even methodical, and to stay moderate and balanced in mind, body and spirit. Remember to eat well to help the body and perhaps even go 'organic' if you haven't already. As earth relates to the spleen, which affects mental clarity, you may even find more need to reduce stress.

There's also a strong likelihood you'll be attracted to:

Yoga, tai chi and the martial arts
Landscaping, gardening, mountain climbing and biking
Healthier foods and the physical body


Nature's Expression

Quite simply the earth of this year is fertile ground for new crops. My belief is we'll see new agriculture come to the forefront. Additionally, this earth is related to wet mud and man-made structures. As such, certain areas may find themselves more prone to earth related concerns such as mudslides and even earthquakes, and the falling down of structures. This may be most prominent in the Goat and Dog months ~ July and Oct ~ which have a clashing and penalty relationship with the Ox. As the Ox is a storage of metal, one may also look underground to mines (which store metal), tunnels (cars of metal drive through) and the like. Thus it is a perfect opportunity to rebuild or reinforce these structures in 2009 to ensure their safety. And, without the fire to warm the earth, cooler temperatures, snow storms and longer winters can be expected.

It seems homosexuality is also related to the earth element. As such, we may find more focus on gay and lesbian rights, legislation and corresponding matters in the coming year.

Animal Magnetism

Let's focus our attention on the special relationships between the Ox of '09 and the 12 Animal Signs.

Rat, Snake and Rooster People For those born in these years, expect more harmony, peace and balance in the year to come. With that said, it is important to note this snapshot does not take into account one's full birth data which is required to make a true and accurate assessment of one's fortune for the upcoming year.

Goat, Ox and Dog People The Ox has a clashing relationship with the Goat. Therefore, those born in the Goat year may find more changes, movement and even disruptions in their lives. Additionally, if moving, avoid going into the NE direction, as this is the location of the Grand Duke in '09.
